Kaba Gandhi No Delo
Kaba Gandhi No Delo, Rajkot is the place where the Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his stay in Rajkot in the early years of his life. It has now been converted into a museum called Gandhi Smriti.
Mahatma Gandhi's father, in the name of Karamchand Gandhi was also known as Kaba Gandhi. The name of the house has been derived form Gandhiji's father's name. In Gujarati, the words Kaba Gandhi No Delo literally means 'Kaba Gandhi's residence'.
History of Kaba Gandhi No Delo
Karamchand Gandhi, the father or the Mahatma was appointed the Diwan of Rajkot State and resided in what is today known as Kaba Gandhi no Delo, located just off the busy Gheekantha Road. This is the house where Mohandas K Gandhi's father, Karamchand Uttanchand Gandhi (Kaba Gandhi) resided at Rajkot, helping as Diwan (Prime Minister) to the King. M K Gandhi himself spent a few years of his early life here from 1881 to 1887.
